Abram Sudan
Abram is a surrealist visionary and fixture in the Grand Rapids art scene. A top 25 ArtPrize finalist and owner of DreamPirate Gallery, he’s a master painter whose creative reach spans music and flow arts.
Arturo is a painter born in Guerrero, Mexico and raised in Visalia, California, where he picked up mural work and lowrider airbrushing. After moves to North Carolina and later Grand Rapids, he found new inspiration in landscapes, race cars, and local culture. Since 2021, he’s created eight murals across Grand Rapids, all rooted in nature and cultural storytelling.
Ashley Petrash is a painter from Mt Pleasant Michigan. Petrash works in multiple mediums including acrylic, oil and water color. Petrash has been painting since 1995 and has participated in local shows throughout the years. Her portraits are motivated by showing the energy of her subjects through contrasting light and color.
Camui is a 3D animation and gaming major who loves drawing manga‑style portraits and listening to Japanese rock bands. She started practicing the JOJO art style last year and recently began creating musician portraits. She hopes to dive deeper into expressive speed painting and share the style and influences that inspire her.
Carrie has been creating art her whole life, from painting to teaching to mixed media. Since 2005, she’s worked under Scaredy Cat Primitives, crafting dolls and artworks from recycled textiles, found objects, and hidden layers. Her pieces—ranging from tiny works to murals—have been shown across the US and Canada, earning awards and a loyal following.
Devin Menzel is a mixed-media art hobbyist based in the greater Grand Rapids area. Her work is stylized and colorful, influenced by artists like Jim Henson, JC Leyendecker, Rockwell, and William Bouguereau, as well as many cartoons, drag, and characters like Grimace and Ziggy Stardust. Favorite mediums include colored pencil, graphite, digital art, gouache, and oil paint. Outside of drawing and painting, Devin enjoys walking her dog, nature, playing Pokémon, and listening to music.
Drakkari is a Grand Rapids-born artist whose work features bold colors, thick lines, and a signature use of red. They create abstract, expressive pieces that reflect their love of animals, patterns, and playful spontaneity. For Drakkari, painting is a soulful practice and a way to share their unique vision with the world.
Juliet is a multidisciplinary artist nearly two decades of experience in painting, photography and filmmaking. Currently focused on painting, she describes it as her meditation, escape, and one of her greatest joys.
Kyra is a self‑taught artist who’s been drawing since she could hold a pencil. She works in ink and oil, drawn to both minimalism and the depth of rich color. Her style ranges widely, shaped by years of experimenting with different mediums. Through every piece, she aims to spark emotion, creativity, and connection.
Lee is a 23‑year‑old artist from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He got into art when he was 12, thanks to his older brother helping him level up his drawing skills. Over the years he became obsessed with trying new mediums, playing with color, and seeing what happens. Now he leans toward abstract and surreal styles, often focusing on hair and texture, and keeping his characters ambiguous in gender and race.
Maddie loves alla prima and en plein air painting, making this competition a perfect fit for her. She’s an art fanatic—a girl who simply loves to paint and connect with fellow creatives. Specializing in oil painting, Maddie draws inspiration from Impressionism, Baroque, Rococo, and Pre-Raphaelite art, creating portraits, landscapes, and still lifes.
Nicole is an established artist working in multi materials with a focus on nature and oddities. She has participated in ArtPrize for 12 years and has shown at multiple galleries.
