Art Battle 43

Art Battle 43 will feature 8 local and international artists who will have 20 minutes to create their best possible work. The medium is acrylic paint and the only tools allowed are brushes, palette knives or any non-mechanical implements. Artists work freestyle (no reference materials) and the theme is open.

The competition consists of 3 rounds.
Round 1: 4 painters, with the audience voting for the winner.
Round 2: the other 4 painters, with the audience again voting for the winner.
Round 3: the winners of each round will move into the 3rd and final round.

The overall winner will receive the grand prize and will advance to the Art Battle Vancouver Finals. The winner(s) of the Vancouver finals will be sent on an expenses-paid trip to represent Vancouver at the National Art Battle Championships. Last season’s Vancouver champion, Yared Nigussu, went to Toronto and became the first ever Art Battle National Champion.

All paintings created at Art Battle are available for sale via silent auction. Paintings that fail to meet the minimum bid will be destroyed on-site in an absynthe-fueled bonfire.
