Chris Shopland
Instagram: cjshopland_art
Chris explores the depth of human experience, using his art to navigate emotions and states of consciousness. As a neurodivergent artist, his work offers a window into his distinct perspective of the world. He describes his creative process as visceral and physical—an intense interaction with the canvas where he "attacks" the surface, letting the painting evolve organically.
I walk the line between chaos and order, starting with playful layers of abstract texture, and drips, before adding detail. Normally I let these beginnings dry overnight, but here the timer drives me to work alla prima—painting wet-on-wet from the very start to capture immediacy. It’s not a true reflection of my usual workflow so much as a celebration of creation itself within this shared space. I’m drawn to raw emotion through eyes and expression, whether in a portrait or an atmospheric moody landscape. These art battles are addictive, each one I’ll try a new approach to fit within the time .
