Juvy enjoys painting plants to capture their aesthetics and essence. Her love for painting and working with materials has recently extended to baking, as she sees both as similar art forms—one just happens to be edible. While she loves painting, Juvy also has a passion for photography, especially capturing the beauty of nature.

Meg is an award-winning artist based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Working with all mediums, Meg is a visually diverse artist known for her wide range of styles. She excels under pressure and does her best work when facing a time crunch.

Taqwa is back! An acrylic artist, Taqwa shares that there’s no hidden meaning behind her art—she simply creates what is visually beautiful. She won the Art Battle Atlantic Canada Championship in 2022.

Michelle is a self-taught artist who enjoys experimenting with various mediums, embracing the creative journey without a set plan. This is her first time painting live, and she looks forward to sharing the experience with the audience. Michelle works in digital, traditional, ceramic, and painting, and is currently exploring sculpting with polymer clay.

Ellie, raised along Georgian Bay in Ontario, developed a love for landscape oil painting through plein air sessions with her grandfather. Inspired by long walks and shoreline sunrises and sunsets, she specializes in bold, textured oil paintings of landscapes, using vibrant colors to convey emotion and movement.

Hello everyone! My name is Ellie Parr, and I’m so excited to be here tonight, surrounded by such amazing creativity and talent. Art has always been a passion of mine and a welcome escape from my studies at Dalhousie. When I’m not in class, I love going on long walks with my dog, exploring new trails along the shores of Nova Scotia and capturing landscape photos that inspire my paintings. I’ve also fallen in love with plein air painting—it’s such a beautiful way to connect with nature and bring those moments to life on the canvas.

For me, art is more than just a creative outlet; it’s a way i can tell my stories, connect with others, and to express emotions that words just can’t capture. Being part of this art battle is such an honor, and I’m so grateful to share this experience with all of you tonight. Thank you for being here.

Starla is an eclectic artist passionate about exploring diverse mediums in her creative process. With a love for experimentation, she blends materials such as paint, sculpture, and digital art to express her unique vision. Her work reflects a deep curiosity of the world that is constantly evolving as she embraces new techniques and concepts to implement into her work.

Lauren creates portraits, abstract works, and organized pieces. While she experiments with various art styles, black and grey portraits are her specialty. Lauren enjoys working with color and looks forward to exploring it further as she continues to develop her skills. Recently, Lauren has been focusing on still life and landscape paintings.

PenScratch Paintings has been in the business for just over a decade. From live painting at music festivals, creating creatures with special effects makeup, bringing joy to children’s birthdays with face painting, and creating acrylic portraits, she’s no stranger to dipping her toes in different mediums. Recently she has been focused on still life and landscape paintings. Returning for her fourth Art Battle, she is excited to return to the easel.

She is available to hire for commission based artwork, live painting at events, and face painting for performance artists.

Kim, a graduate of NSCAD, is reengaging with painting and illustration. Her latest painting concepts explore figurative themes, blending realistic and abstract approaches to portray the human form. Alongside painting, she pursues weaving, screen printing, and fashion design.

Hey all! I'm happy that you can join tonight to see me and other great artists compete in a totally unique art experience in HRM. I hold a bachelor of Fine Arts from NSCAD University, but art is my side kick at the moment due to wearing so many hats.

Marvin Jeff loves nature and draws inspiration from what the environment has to offer. He believes that everyone is an artist, and that with the right encouragement and inspiration, anyone can learn to express their creativity. While he is still in the early stages of his artistic journey, having taken a few drawing classes during his college years, he is eager to continue developing his skills.

Michael de Adder is a political cartoonist with seven Atlantic Canada journalism awards to his name. He has been nominated seven times for a National Newspaper Award, winning the prestigious honor in 2020. In addition, he received both a Golden Spike Award and a Herblock Award in 2020.

Grotto’s art is whimsical, bold, and full of emotion, often created without a set plan but always turning out great. He loves using oil pastels for their vibrant colors and blending power, with acrylic paint as a close second. Along with painting, he draws, sculpts, screenprints, and sews, encouraging others to stay creative, build community, and remain curious.
