John Boivin is an artist and writer living in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada. Recently crowned the first ever Art Battle Whitehorse Champion, John will be representing the Yukon in the 2014 Art Battle National Championship on July 26 in Toronto.
John works primarily in acrylic, painting the beautiful landscapes of Canada’s true northwest.
Most of John‘s work is done en plein air- that is, in nature- where he feels he is better able to capture the fleeting beauty of the northern seasons . He uses no photographs in executing his work, rather relying on close observation and memory to accurately depict northern scenes.
