This has been an amazing year for live competitive painting in Canada! Winners from across the country will paint on July 20th and 21st to determine who will be the
2016 Art Battle National Champion!

Wednesday July 20th – Championship Preview and Live Studio Showcase

Artist Call Time: 12pm
Location: The Great Hall 1087 Queen St W, Toronto, ON

 

To celebrate the incredible talent and unique voice of each of our Champion Artists, Art Battle will transform the Great Hall into a live painting studio! Artists will create along side one another in an open concept studio space, and will present their works at the end of the night in a special Preview Party the evening before the National Championship event.

Artists are invited to paint a 36 x 36 canvas to be included in the Champion Showcase. Painters will have from 12pm – until 9pm to complete their works that will be presented in a VIP Preview Party on Wednesday night. Patrons will vote on their favorite piece, and the winning artist will receive a prize. (Prize to be announced)

Details for Champion Showcase piece:

36 x 36 Canvas will be provided by Art Battle, and must be completed in the Great Hall during Open Studio hours. This piece can be completed in any media (some stipulations apply) – We will have acrylic paint available at the studio for your use, and you are welcome to bring any supplementary supplies you desire. You will be able to work on your piece from 12pm until the end of the Wednesday night event.

Stipulations for open media use: The piece must be ready to hang by next day, and allow for safe air quality for patrons and fellow artists. We ask you to not use spray paint. If you intend on using oil paint, we recommend for detail work only, ie no globs or thick fields of oil paint.

Sales Agreement for Champion Showcase piece:

Works created for the Championship Showcase will be flat priced on July 20th at 1200$. Works that remain unsold by July 21st will be auctioned at the National Championship event starting at 1000$. Artists will receive 50% of the final collected sale price. Works created for the Championship Showcase that remain unsold after July 21st, 2016 will remain the property of Art Battle, and will be made available for future sale with 50% going to the artist.

Art Battle is live competitive painting. 18 painters will create the best work they can using only acrylic paint across 3 20 minute rounds of public painting. 9 painters will compete in Round 1, another 9 in Round 2, the top 3 painters from each round will go into a 3rd and Final Round with a new canvas. The audience vote for the winners of each round, and the single winner of each event!

Works created at the 2015 Art Battle National Championship will be silent auctioned with 50% of the proceeds going to the artists.

THURSDAY JULY 21ST – 2016 ART BATTLE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Location: The Great Hall 1087 Queen St W, Toronto, ON

 
Art Battle is live competitive painting. 16 painters will create the best work they can using only acrylic paint across three 20 minute rounds of public painting. 8 painters will compete in Round 1, another 8 in Round 2, the top 2 painters from each round will go into a 3rd and Final Round with a new canvas.

The top voted artist from the Final Round will earn the title of 2016 Art Battle National Champion and a 1000$ cash prize.

Works created at the National Championship will be silent auctioned at the event, with 50% of the final collected sales price going to the artist.

What to bring

AB will provide the following materials – canvas, paint, easels, water containers, palettes, paper mixing plates and shop towels for rags. You should bring only your BRUSHES and any other non-mechanical tools you would like to use.
