Tamara is a kitchen and bath designer by day and an abstract painter by night. After praying about what to do next, she picked up a paint brush. Soon, she put it down in favor of a paper towel and has been painting with a paper towel ever since! Tamara loves to take everyday things and make them spectacular.

Rachel is a Michigan-based artist by way of Missouri, North Carolina, and California known for her mixed-media and abstract art. Although not completely uncommon, her canvases are rarely composed with one material; her pieces are predominantly comprised by a combination of acrylic, mastic, adhesive polymers, and a vermiculite and polystyrene compound.

I am excited to compete in Art Battle for the second time! I challenged myself in October of 2023 During a “Darkest Night” when we painted on all-black canvases. That experience helped widen some perspectives on how I could approach some of my abstract art, and I have Art Battle to thank for giving me 50 glorious collective minutes to discover something new about myself.

I’m still working with trash, construction, materials, and dirty brushes… just in a more thoughtful way.

Kelly is an expressionist artist working with acrylic and mixed media to make bold, colorful abstracts. She creates dynamic paintings that celebrate the beauty and joy of movement. Kelly's skillset includes abstract acrylics, palette knife, mixed media, sculpture, collage, digital art, surface pattern design, and animation. She considers each of her pieces an action shot.

I'm excited to Battle!

Vily, a self-taught, Ukrainian artist, loves working loose and fast. With exploration into abstraction and impressionism, Vily creates art with a focus on the essence of a subject. Vily draws with ink as well as charcoal and likes mixing mediums such as ink and watercolor, acrylic and charcoal.

Art unlocks something in Jessica and with each piece that she creates, she discovers another door she needs to unlock. Jessica chases whatever inspires her, and abstract work appeals to her. She primarily works with water-based paints and says watercolor is her favorite.

I’m excited to tap into the energy of the crowd and the other competing artists—it’s going to be an amazing experience!

Leia is an artist from Pittsburgh and has studied oil painting while living on a small island in Greece. She is currently an architecture student at the University of Pittsburgh. She loves to explore both places and mediums feeding her inspiration. Her curiosity has led her to experiment with egg tempera and Encaustic hot wax painting.

Abril mostly focuses on portraits, in both monochrome and color. She is not afraid of color and is always looking for reasons to pop in a brushstroke of a bright color. Her art tends to lean towards a spookier dark aesthetic because she finds it fascinating and beautiful. Additionally, Abril can paint with both hands!

Hello! I am so excited to be a part of this Art Battle, it will be my first time competing so I am a little overwhelmed and humbled at the thought of being around so many talented artists. I am primarily a digital 3D artist by trade, and use traditional art as a means to reset my eyes from digital strain and still be creative without exhausting myself. Watercolor is a tricky medium to handle in 20 minutes thanks to the wet/drying aspect, but I hope I can flex my years of experience in the medium in battle!

Angie's work is a mix of realism with a bit of whimsy. With so much darkness in the world, she wants her art to show beauty and light. She only got into painting the last few years after being a photographer for over a decade. Currently, Angie specializes in acrylic painting of mostly animals and people.

Cat is an ICVFX and motion capture artist. Having studied animation and illustration, Cat's experience stems from AAA games, animation, to VFX. When she is not engaged in capturing mocap data or testing a new production pipeline, she dives into plein air painting and urban sketching. Cat especially enjoys using ink to created detailed cross hatching illustrations.
