Alissa Staples
Alissa is a Japanese-Canadian illustrator and acrylic painter. She studied animation at Vancouver Film School, and fine arts at UBC. She currently works as a translator in the video game industry. Being inspired by kawaii-style Japanese illustration since she was young, Alissa loves to draw cute characters and cozy illustrations! Thank you for looking at her profile!
Erin Bun
Erin is an acrylic painter known for vibrant, imaginative takes on natural scenes and familiar themes. She’s been creating since childhood, inspired by early‑morning Bob Ross episodes, and later turned that passion into hosting paint‑night events across Ontario. When in‑person art paused in 2020, she shifted online, streaming thousands of creative hours, teaching 100+ free tutorials, and building a community of over 15,000. Today she balances commissions, her art shop, and gallery features while continuing to make art accessible and joyful.
Ita Yee Ping Jong
Ita is an artist whose work has grown through exploration, experimentation, and personal evolution. Her creative journey reflects a continual search for meaning and expression through visual storytelling. She draws inspiration from nature, emotion, culture, memory, and everyday experiences, allowing these influences to guide both her process and the themes she explores. Working with oil, watercolor, pen, and pencil, her style blends emotive, bold, intimate, and contemplative qualities. Ita aims to create artwork that invites viewers to pause, feel, and interpret each piece in their own way.
Kayla Waterman
Kayla is a mixed‑media experimental artist drawn to the sensual, the strange, and the unspoken. Working with upcycled and foraged materials, she explores themes of femininity, emotion, and transformation. Her pieces reimagine the taboo and the overlooked, blending curiosity with introspection. Through texture, contrast, and unconventional materials, Kayla creates work that invites both playful engagement and thoughtful reflection.
Maria Chen

Zoey
I started drawing nearly twenty years ago, and art has quietly grown with me through different stages of my life. What began as a simple love for drawing slowly became a way for me to observe the world, understand myself, and hold onto meaningful moments. I studied portrait sketching, color landscapes, and quick sketches, and through these practices I learned not only technique, but patience, sensitivity, and how to truly see.
I care deeply about the sense of completeness in a painting. To me, a finished work should feel settled and sincere, as if everything inside it belongs there. I believe artists have the freedom to choose their own preferences, and color is where I express myself most honestly. I am drawn to warm tones and the relationship between warm and cool colors, using thoughtful composition to create a feeling of warmth, calm, and quiet connection. I hope my work can make people feel comforted, even for a brief moment.
I especially love painting from life. When I sketch outdoors or while traveling, I am not only recording what I see, but also what I experience. Every sketch carries memories—the temperature of the air, the light of that day, and the small, interesting things that happened along the way. When I look back at these works, those moments return to me vividly, as if I am there again.
Art Battle feels exciting and meaningful to me because it captures the raw, living moment of creation. I look forward to painting in front of an audience, sharing that energy, and turning a fleeting moment into something complete and heartfelt.
