Join AB Seattle @ NW Folklife Festival!

FREE EVENT!
Twelve talented artists will converge at Seattle Center to showcase their skills in a thrilling live art competition.
The competition will kick off at 3pm with the first round, where artists will have just 20 minutes to transform blank canvases into masterpieces.
The audience will play a pivotal role in the event, moving around the room, observing each artist’s technique and progress, ultimately casting their votes for their favorite pieces.
Each artwork created during the event will be up for bid, allowing art lovers to take home a tangible memory of this extraordinary competition.

Artists can apply to compete. Also, most events have a ‘Wildcard’ easel, where artists leave their names at the door and we draw at random to pick the Wildcard Artist. To be a potential wildcard artist, just buy a ticket and show up!

Em Oradei

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Em moved to Seattle late in 2021 to pursue art, adventure, and a fresh start. Hiking, kayaking and road trips, while taking in the views are some of the ways they like to enjoy the PNW and gain inspiration for future work. Frequently taking photos and searching for the next best hike and view, they create art from the adventures they take.

Jeff Manderville

Jeff is back! His artwork ranges from non-objective shapes and lines to dreamlike landscapes and seascapes, with expressive pieces woven throughout. While painting remains his main focus, Jeff also enjoys exploring sculpture and experimenting with mixed media.

With a background in fashion and dance, his figures often echo classical proportions with a raw, modern edge. He works intuitively with gouache, watercolor, charcoal, and pastel—favoring gesture, silhouette, and emotional intensity over perfection. For Howie, every mark carries meaning.

Giusiana is a Seattle-area based, internationally collected multimedia artist. Much of her art is inspired by her experience living with multiple incurable diseases. She uses her art as just one of many forms of advocacy. As another form of advocacy, she will also be representing our beautiful PNW at the regional Ms. Wheelchair USA pageant in July!

Giusiana is a Seattle-area based, internationally collected multimedia artist. Much of her art is inspired by her experience living with multiple incurable diseases. She uses her art as just one of many forms of advocacy. As another form of advocacy, She will also be representing our beautiful PNW at the regional Ms. Wheelchair USA pageant in July! Yana Korneva

Yana is an artist from Belarus whose love for art began early in life. Painting has long been her therapy and passion, inspired by the quiet beauty of nature, landscapes, and still lifes. She primarily works with soft pastels, oils, and watercolors, creating gentle gradients and atmospheric scenes. Yana’s art is a heartfelt reflection of her emotions, with each piece dedicated to her homeland. She is always open to new creative collaborations.

I am a visual artist based in Redmond, Washington. Originally from Belarus, I moved to the United States three years ago and continue to draw creative inspiration from the natural landscapes and cultural heritage of my homeland.

Megan Gottfried

Megan is a Jewish contemporary painter and fiber artist based in Seattle, Washington. Megan’s work explores depth and color theory, pushing the boundaries of contemporary painting. In addition to her studio practice, she teaches fine arts through the Freedom Education Project Puget Sound at the Washington Corrections Center for Women (WCCW) and Pratt Fine Arts Center. She spends many hours in her 57’ Biscayne art studio developing new work and remains committed to making meaningful contributions to Seattle’s art community through her practice, using painting as a means of exploration, challenge, and healing.

Ryan is a visual artist whose work blends semi-realism pop art with abstract elements, bold colors, and expressive brushstrokes. He studied visual arts in college in 2009 and later worked as a graphic designer for a local streetwear company, where he discovered a passion for branding, logo design, and the fashion industry. In 2013, he created his first acrylic painting on canvas and has continued to refine his practice ever since. Open to exploring new mediums and subjects, Ryan aims to expand his creative outlets. His skills include painting, drawing, and working with a range of digital creative tools.

His work blends fantasy with a sense of fun, promising an engaging experience for the audience. Sean prefers working with pencils, bold Sharpies, and acrylic paint, showcasing his comfort and expertise with these mediums.

A goblinoid form wielding scissors and festooned with children's art supplies emerges from a Belltown basement in a cloud of cardboard scraps!

Witness a mind warped by 90s Nickelodeon, cracked open by classic fantasy artists and pieced back together with hot glue and sticky tape.
