Art Battle and The Other Art Fair are excited to be joining forces for the next edition of The Other Art Fair Sydney, which will be held from 8 to 11 May. These two heavyweights of the Sydney art scene are putting on a show for ages.

Artists can apply to compete. Also, most events have a ‘Wildcard’ easel, where artists leave their names at the door and we draw at random to pick the Wildcard Artist. To be a potential wildcard artist, just buy a ticket and show up!

Grace is an Australian-born Korean artist with an edgy style in her works. She enjoys drawing cute girls, but also deeply appreciates what art means and what it can evoke in others. Grace leans toward visceral yet melancholic elements that some, in its chaos, may find comforting. She is an artist who loves to work across various media, including traditional drawing and painting, as well as digital art using her iPad and Photoshop.
Sam Carig

Sam enjoys painting figures and portraits. He began with life drawing and portraits, then explored abstract art, but found himself growing bored with both. Now, he focuses on creating anything that keeps his interest, describing it as a challenge with artistic commitment. He works in both drawing and painting.

VanDahl is an award-winning contemporary artist born on Wiradjuri land in Coonabarabran, NSW. With over 20 years of experience, he works across various mediums including drawing, painting, sculpture, design, and photography. He has lived and created in cities like New York, Sydney, and Paris, and now works from his beachside home and studio in Australia.

Carly is an educator, capoeirista, and multidisciplinary artist who uses painting and mixed media to explore history and cultural concepts. Her work often merges artforms, drawing on cultural motifs and using complementary colors to create depth and meaning. Portraits are central to her practice, serving as a way to investigate identity, tradition, and connection.

Ellie
Ellie is a multidisciplinary artist who studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the oldest art school in the United States. She has been painting, sculpting, writing, and creating for as long as she can remember. Passionate about both figures and inanimate objects, Ellie’s strength lies in projecting her own story and personifying her subjects. She works across various mediums, including watercolor, oil, sculpture, and drawing.

Sam Absurd

Sam is a Sydney-based aerosol artist with over 20 years of experience, known for his original style shaped by local graffiti culture. His work blends illustrative and surreal elements, drawing on his background in mathematics and love for nature. From private homes to public institutions, his projects reflect a sharp eye for detail and creative depth. As a youth worker, Sam also shares his skills through workshops, empowering the next generation to explore street art.
