Emily is an 18‑year‑old artist studying Fine Arts at the University of Auckland after years of teaching herself. She’s obsessed with New Zealand’s nature and loves painting birds, flowers, trees—pretty much any animal she can find. Her dad got her into art young, and by 15 she’d started shaping her own style, mixing early Renaissance influences with her own twist.
Nomadic, curious, and easily amazed, Icha Visual is a restless artist who enjoys experimenting with different artistic languages. She showed an interest in visual arts from a very early age and currently focuses mainly on painting, tattooing, and muralism, while constantly exploring new disciplines. At present, she is deeply immersed in the world of visuals, digital art, and interactive installations. During her travels across South America, she has participated in psytrance festivals, contributing to the creation of stages, decorations, and live paintings.
Neelam is a painting artist from India now living in Aotearoa. She has a Master of Arts in Fine Arts and has created more than 800 pieces in all kinds of styles and mediums. She’s comfortable working with everything from watercolor to oil paint and has also taught art back home. Nature is her biggest inspiration and shows up throughout her work.
Oliver Ridgen
Oliver is a 19‑year‑old artist from Auckland who’s been painting for only about two years but pours a deep passion for birds into every canvas. He hopes his work helps others feel the same love and fascination he does.
Rachel is a self‑taught artist from Scotland who’s called Aotearoa home for the past seven years. Now a first‑time mum, she’s rediscovering her artistic style between feeding, loving, and nurturing her little boy. She’s joining Art Battle to show that no matter where you are in your life journey, there’s always space to express yourself.
Sandra is a Chinese artist based in Auckland whose love for painting began in childhood and grew into dreams of becoming a cartoonist. Now a graphic designer and art teacher, she creates vivid, colorful, character‑filled work across watercolor, digital painting, and more. She loves the energy of Art Battle and finds creating alongside other artists incredibly inspiring.
Sophie is a 23‑year‑old painter and recent Elam School of Fine Arts grad whose lifelong practice has grown into a quirky, spontaneous style driven by joy. She’s excited to see how her playful approach comes to life on the Art Battle stage.
Valerie puts pen or brush to paper daily, inspired by everything around her—especially color. With a background in Interior Design, she considers color theory her forte, though she values the simplicity of classic black. Believing everyone conveys a unique color aura, hers shines purple and gold. Valerie is an artist, mother, and cosmophiliac, sharing her vibrant vision with the world.
Zoe holds a Master’s in Animation Directing from the Beijing Film Academy and has a deep love for oil painting. She blends naturalistic and Gothic styles with bold, high‑contrast color palettes, specializing in detailed work and landscape composition. Now the director of Artmind Studio, she’s joining the competition in hopes of sparking fresh inspiration and new creative ideas.
