Experience a powerful fusion of live art and history as Art Battle joins the Canadian War Museum for Inspired by the Vault. For one night only, artists will create original works live, drawing inspiration from rarely seen pieces in the Museum’s Beaverbrook Collection of War Art.
In Art Battle’s signature high-energy format, artists compete in three fast-paced rounds as the crowd cheers them on and votes. The top two face off in a final round, where one is crowned champion. With DJ-spun beats and an electric atmosphere, this is art and history like you’ve never seen before.
For one night only, explore a pop-up gallery featuring the historic artworks selected by the competing artists and admire the new creations they inspired — all in Art Battle’s signature high-energy format.

Daniel Martelock

Daniel is a multidisciplinary artist and curator based in Ottawa, Canada. He creates murals and illustrations featuring birds, wildlife, and vibrant backgrounds that are found throughout the city. Using discarded materials, Daniel reinvents objects to craft meaningful artworks.
Emily Ratsep
Emily finds joy in creating artwork inspired by the natural world, especially animals. She enjoys experimenting with color and form to capture the feeling of a moment rather than a photographic likeness. Through her brushwork and color choices, Emily aims to evoke emotion and bring her subjects to life in a unique way.
Katherine Kuczewski
Katherine is a self-taught acrylic and oil painter based in Ottawa, specializing in symbolic nature and wildlife art. Originally from Montreal, she blends her love of art, science, and storytelling, drawing on a background in wildlife and marine biology and interior design. Becoming a mom inspired her to fully pursue painting, focusing on themes of strength, freedom, and natural beauty.
Nicole Gabriela Bonilla Mendoza
Nicole is a Venezuelan urban artist, muralist, illustrator, and painter who brings color and imagination to life. Her style blends fantasy and animation using acrylics, watercolors, and spray paint. For the past four years, she’s freelanced creating murals and custom pieces and has participated in community projects and art festivals. Nicole dreams of traveling the world, turning grey walls into vibrant spaces that inspire joy and connection.
Patrick.S.Greene

Patrick, born and raised in Ottawa, is primarily known as a landscape artist but constantly explores new styles and areas in his work. He enjoys experimenting and pushing boundaries in his art. Inspired by the fun and spontaneity of competition, Patrick loves participating in Art Battle to fuel his creativity.
Rob Nicholson
Rob has been painting in Art Battle for 10 years and won the 2023 Ottawa championship, qualifying for the finals in Toronto. He is a Paint Nite instructor, artist, and father of three. Rob continues to enjoy creating and competing in live painting events.
Sawsan Hussein Shorbajee
Sawsan Shorbajee is an accomplished multicultural artist based in Ottawa, Ontario, creating expressive works that blend realism and abstraction. Her art draws on rich cultural influences and contemporary techniques to explore beauty and emotion across diverse forms.
Silvia

Silvia is a self-taught artist passionate about abstract realism, portraiture, and modern luminism. Drawn to color from a young age, she began painting with acrylics at 11 and created several murals during high school. After completing a Fine Arts course at Algonquin College, Silvia has painted live at churches in Ottawa and Toronto. She embraces a rule-breaking, experimental approach to art, focusing mainly on abstract realism while showing a strong interest in portraiture.
