Blake Showers

Blake Showers

Blake Showers is an illustrator, creative director, and art educator from Birmingham, Alabama. His influences include graffiti, cartoons, anime, the Black experience, and Hip Hop/Rap. His work centers on character design and world building, using bold lines and vibrant colors. He leans into a cartoony style to draw viewers in with something familiar, then uses that visual language to explore complex issues and ideas.
Brett Greiman

Brett Greiman

Brett Greiman, a graduate of the York Academy of Arts, is a muralist, illustrator, graphic designer, educator, and painter. Brett taught for well over a decade at Bradley Academy for the Visual Arts as an adjunct professor of graphic design. He currently works in both conventional and digital mediums in his business “Brett Greiman Design”.

Brett’s paintings can be found in both private and corporate collections including Wellspan Health, Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center, Harley Davidson, Junior Achievement of Central PA, Nixon Nature Center, Mulberry Art Studios, and York History Center where his large triptych “Civil Rights Heroes, Barrier Breakers” has been inducted into the center’s permanent collection.

His works have received much recognition over the years. Barnes Foundation CEO, Kimberly Camp, juror for the 2004 Yorkfest juried exhibition, awarded Brett the “Best of Show” award for the juried exhibit. That painting was then selected in 2006 as the featured artwork for that year’s Yorkfest. In 2002, York mayor John Brenner awarded Brett the York Public Arts Award in recognition of his creative contributions to the York community. Several years later, he shared that recognition again with two other artists in honor of their work to revive Yorkfest. York Sunday News editor and historian Jim McClure listed Brett in a York Sunday News article as “a York artist who history will remember”. Brett has illustrated five children’s books with one of them now having worldwide sales in excess of one half million copies.

Brett is a life-long resident of York County and resides with his wife Nina, in York Township where his studio is also located.

I am an abstract painter that adds in a lot of mixed media into my work, including fabrics, paper, metal, wood, sand, glass bead, you name it if it sticks I like to add it in. I am a fast painter. I have a degree in painting and just starting to get back into the Scene going full-time as an artist starting May 1. This would be a great opportunity for me to break out of my shell.
Frances Pugh

Joanna Trainor

Joanna Trainor

My name is Joanna Trainor, but I often go by Joey. I was born and raised in York County. I attained my Bachelor’s degree at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art. I hold a BFA in Painting and Drawing, and a Minor in General Business Studies. I am an active Artist and Art Instructor in York County with such a love for York City’s businesses, people, and culture. Art is a huge connecting factor. It isn’t unusual to find me at a local coffee shop plein air painting in public on a weekend or sharing my artwork with the public on a First Friday during the warmer months.
I enjoy making and instructing art to inspire others, invite fun, color, nostalgia, and positive interpretation of Art. What an honor it is to prepare, encourage, and develop creative skills in students by helping them problem solve, release, and inform aspects of their lives through Art.

Nicole Smeltzer

Nicole Smeltzer

My typical works in watercolor and acrylic focus on the flora and fauna of my home garden in York, Pennsylvania. Each painting starts as complex drawing on paper or aquabord that builds on the repetition of shapes and patterns to create a composition that keeps the eye moving. Exploration of color mixing, repetition of forms and line work, and methodical brushwork are all exercises in mindfulness as I paint, allowing all other thoughts to fall to the wayside. Focusing on the details one leaf or petal at a time (instead of the “big picture”) gives me time and space to slow down, while the use of a limited palette gives me freedom to play within each small shape, knowing it will all come together in the end.
