Adam loves painting scenes from fantasy, as it is so much more interesting than reality. The scenes usually involve some monster or human in a surreal environment. Adam's approach to painting involves trying to produce his vision of a three-dimensional scene, onto a two-dimensional surface. His skillset includes drawing, oil painting, acrylic painting and watercolor.

From the artist:

I love painting scenes from fantasy. I prefer painting from my head as fantasy is so much more interesting than reality. The scenes usually involve some monster or human in a surreal environment.

My approach to painting involves trying to produce my vision of a three- dimensional scene, onto a two-dimensional surface. Having spent many years drawing from observation, I now have a large repertoire of ideas/ subject matter that I can utilise when painting from my head. I try to capture an unsettling mood.

I can work fast, and I am at a level where I don't always need a reference to help me draw or paint a subject.

Acid Baby

Acid Baby, acknowledging the link between adversity and artistic greatness, sees creativity as a vital outlet for expressing emotions and traumas. Through her own struggles and medication journey, Acid Baby finds solace and reflection in her art, aiming to inspire others to confront mental health challenges and find healing through creativity.

From the artist:

I have come to learn that the greatest artists were created through life's adversities. Humans have a need for creativity, a way of tapping into unspoken emotions, traumas and dimensions.

As the world faces more death and destruction than ever before, the global mental health epidemic hits an all time peak. As someone who has endured sustained trauma throughout my life, mental health awareness has had to take the steering wheel in my day to day life.

As I entered my adult years, the impacts of my trauma came into fruition. I believed my path was short and recovery felt unlikely. In October 2022, I began a prescription of antipsychotics as short term relief for nightmares, little were we aware of the long-term relief from psychosis I was to receive.

Only through this journey did I begin to recognise the fragments of psychosis and nightmares that frequently appeared within my paintings, stemming as far back as artworks in my teen years.

With the endlessly flowing shapes and vibrant array of colours, I had been subconsciously repainting my illness and healer co-existing. My illness often feeling like sticky, overwhelming tar throughout my veins, my healer holding onto whatever vibrancy they can maintain in the mundane depths of my illness.

With each stroke, I become more content with the madness and a little bit kinder to myself. My desire as an artist is to inspire others, not just creatives, to find comfort in recognising their mental turmoil in the chaos of our world and to break down stigmas around our mental health epidemic and find healing energy in the arts.
