Spencer aims to use these stories to uplift youth all around the world, reminding them that even as we find our way through life, our power remains, and we are capable of extraordinary things.

My Art Journey…
My journey with art began in 2003 when my dad was diagnosed with late-stage cancer.
In those four short months, the only thing he asked of me was to stay positive.

So I picked up a paintbrush, and haven't put it down since!

Together with my Mom and Brother, we started ConquerCancer.org in 2004 as a way to carry that promise forward.
We created the Conquer Cancer charitable license plate that now travels the roads of
Massachusetts on more than 10,000 cars, raising over $1 million for patients and programs.
We also designed and built the Cancer Garden of Hope on Boston City Hall Plaza in 2010, and
we have tended that garden ever since—keeping it colorful for anyone who needs a moment of
peace in the middle of the city.

Art is the language I use to stay positive.
It has taken me from painting at the bedside to creating pop-up studios at the Cancer Center,
donating art kits to patients, and filling spaces in the hospital with color and stories.

Everything I do—from painting live at Fenway and at the Cancer Garden of gardens to running workshops and a pop up studio at the MGB Cancer Center — is just another way to deliver on the promise I made to my dad:

Let's Stay Colorful, and use that language to bring a little bit of Hope and Joy and Connection wherever we can 🙂
