Artists can apply to compete. Also, most events have a ‘Wildcard’ easel, where artists leave their names at the door and we draw at random to pick the Wildcard Artist. To be a potential wildcard artist, just buy a ticket and show up!
Abram is a surrealist visionary and fixture in the Grand Rapids art scene. A top 25 ArtPrize finalist and owner of DreamPirate Gallery, he’s a master painter whose creative reach spans music and flow arts.
Avery is a 19-year-old artist rediscovering her creative voice. Drawn to art from a young age, she’s now in her second year at MCC, working in oils, charcoal, and pencil. She loves painting animals, people, and landscapes, and thrives on creative challenges. Hoping to attend Kendall College next year, she’s committed to growing her skills and finding her place in the art world.
Drakkari is a Grand Rapids-born artist whose work features bold colors, thick lines, and a signature use of red. They create abstract, expressive pieces that reflect their love of animals, patterns, and playful spontaneity. For Drakkari, painting is a soulful practice and a way to share their unique vision with the world.
Graciela De La Maza is a multidisciplinary artist and designer. Her work combines analog and digital techniques to create immersive experiences rooted in storytelling and nostalgia. Graciela holds an MFA in Graphic Design from Otis College of Art and Design and a BA in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame. In addition to her formal education, her 15 years as a dancer and choreographer, as well as her broad experience with editorial and film makeup artistry vastly enrich her work, blending influences into a unique perspective as she explores culture, identity, and emotion.
Jesus is an artist based in Grand Rapids. He has been creating art for six years and works with various mediums, favoring graphite/pencil and acrylic paint. His portfolio includes local murals and participation in community art shows.
Jontae is a self-taught artist based in West Michigan. After a five-year break from painting, he has returned to his craft with renewed purpose. A father and creative, his work aims to reconnect viewers with themselves, channeling emotion and energy to reflect harmony amid chaos.
Juliet is a multidisciplinary artist nearly two decades of experience in painting, photography and filmmaking. Currently focused on painting, she describes it as her meditation, escape, and one of her greatest joys.
Victoria studied painting at Kendall College of Art & Design over 30 years ago. A longtime makeup artist, she returned to mural painting during the pandemic, creating a memorial for her father-in-law on a metal canoe. She now paints murals on unusual surfaces, often inspired by the Thornapple River near her home.
