Muhammed Emaad Fayaz

Muhammed Emaad Fayaz

Hi I'm Emaad an Environmental Engineer by day and an artist year round (it's my hobby). I love exploring weird and zany characters and ideas and use a mix of traditional media and digital media to try and convey whatever fun ideas I may have. Art has always brought me both stress and joy, and it's something that inspires me constantly. I've had experience working freelance in the past.
Phoenix

Phoenix

I depict queer black esoteric women who have been through pain and healing. I show the raw honesty of that through artistic means and resilient celebration and honoring of ancestral gifts. I enjoy depicting divine beings and empowering those who may not see themselves as worthy. I use a lot of gold and metallic color cut paper and deep vivid bright pigments. I rarely draw faces to depict people as a representation of a cultural group. These are ethereal beings, and spirits who once existed but live through us. I want there to be mystery and allow the viewer to see part of the magic but not entirely.

β€œI examine domesticity, womanhood and relationships to create work that is both familiar and unnerving. I like to engage memory recall and new thoughts through shared experiences. Working with fiber as material and a base of connotation, I emphasize concept and craft in my work. From wood or steel-based fiber work to surface, mass, containment, and performance, my work lives to make experiences. Paint is often the start of the creative process for me as a visual map.”
